We publish real, sourced material, and we check it. We will still get things wrong, because we are humans — in fact, being human is our entire subject matter, so errors here are less a failure and more a form of field research.

Our promise: if we got a fact, a date, a quote, or an attribution wrong, tell us. We will verify it, fix it visibly, and note the correction on the entry. If the error is embarrassing enough, we reserve the right to publish it as its own entry, with ourselves in the starring role. The donkey has requested this personally.

Disputed attributions: some famous quotes have murky origins — history is careless with receipts. Where an attribution is contested, our footnotes say so. If you can improve one with a better source, you are our favorite kind of reader.

How to reach the editors: the correction address will be published here at launch. Include the entry number, what’s wrong, and your source. Brevity is appreciated; the donkey reads everything twice.
